Holly and Richard went to high school together in Memphis but “weren’t friends” (their words). After high school, they both moved away to attend college and begin their professional careers. Fast forward 15 years (!) and Holly and Richard both moved back to their hometown within just a few months of one another. When Holly’s best friend met Richard at a cycling race, she had a hunch that he and Holly would be a good match and encouraged him to give her a call. Needless to say, he listened. I think they call that fate, y’all.

We are so excited to celebrate Holly and Richard as they renew their vows at The Big Fake Wedding Memphis, tomorrow night at Propcellar. There are still a handful of tickets left, so grab yours here!

What was the most unique part of your engagement story?
Richard and I invited everyone to our engagement party and then surprised everyone by getting married THAT NIGHT!

We invited everyone to our ‘engagement party’ at The Second Line Restaurant. While guests were enjoying appetizers and cocktails, Richard and I snuck out and headed down the street in a getaway car to Overton Park. Back at the restaurant, The Chef came out and surprised our guests by telling them we were getting married that night!! The guests loaded onto a bus and met us at the ceremony. We were married in the formal gardens in Overton Park and went back to the Second Line for the after party! We picked both of these locations because they are two of our favorite places to be. It was truly the most special night of our lives!

What was the absolute best memory from your wedding day?

During the ceremony we brought Richard’s son, Jett, up to the altar and prayed over him. Our minister wanted to bless our family and unite us all as one. It was a really special moment and I felt really honored to become a stepmom.

What is the best date you have ever had?
We drove to Nashville to see The Band of Horses at the Ryman Auditorium, went to Barista Parlor at least twice while we were there and stayed at a cute Airbnb Renovated Airstream trailer.

What advice would you give an engaged couple?
Anything goes when planning your wedding day! As long as you provide a good atmosphere for your guests, give them yummy food and drink and make sure you have good music so everyone will dance-then your evening will be a success!!
