SO much goes on behind the scenes of a wedding. It’s easy to sit back and enjoy the final product, but have you ever stopped to think “How did they come up with that idea for lighting?” Or “What kind of flowers ARE these??”. We asked Sweet Marie Designs of The 2nd San Diego NotWedding to illuminate that second question for us with the bouquet recipe she used for the event. Now maybe some of us novices can make a beautiful bouquet all on our own!

“This year, the creators of The NotWedding moved away from their traditional blush and neutral color palette, doing a one-eighty with a neon and brightly-colored design board. The focus was on bright pink, yellow and green with gold accents.

With this in mind, I wanted the bridal bouquet to encompass the joy and excitement of these colors by using all three. In an effort to keep it timeless however, I softened the neon look by using white blossoms with yellow accents rather than making a purely neon bouquet. Using wispy and playful blooms such as Ranunculus and Jasmine vine, I designed an asymmetrical hand tied bouquet wrapped in gold satin ribbon with trailing white and pink accents for NotBride Danielle to carry down the aisle. Also included in the design were dahlias, Solid Aster, Tulips, Hellebores and Anemones.

To contrast against the bridal bouquet and their pink dresses, the bridesmaid bouquets were designed with yellow, white and green blooms wrapped in green satin ribbon. Included in their bouquets were Ranunculus, Dahlia, Hydrangea, Pincushion Protea, Chrysanthemum and Gardenia foliage.”
