Meg and David met in college when she was an incoming freshman and he was her orientation leader(!). When the school year started, Meg was stunned that he actually remembered her name – little did she know, David was already hooked. They were both involved in a ministry on campus, and Meg ended up in a small group David was leading (we’re sensing a pattern here). They soon began dating, then got married three years later in Meg’s hometown of Memphis, TN.

We are so excited to celebrate Meg and David as they renew their vows at The Big Fake Wedding New York City tomorrow night at Houston Hall. We hope to see you there!

From her:

What was the most unique part of your engagement story?
When we got engaged, David took me to the top of a mountain in Boulder, CO, and he told me he loved me for the first time…then he got down on one knee and said, “And I want to know if you will let me love you for the rest of your life. Will you marry me?” Later at dinner, he gave me a book he had put together of all the notes and letters he’d ever gotten from me.

What is the most awesome thing about your marriage?
The most awesome thing about our marriage started right after our first date. David took me to lunch and was completely honest with me about his desire to pursue me, what he like about me, and he explained that he really wanted to start out with honest communication. We actually took it pretty slow in starting to date, but that really laid a foundation of honesty and vulnerability that I love so much about our marriage. I am so grateful for a husband who pursues me and won’t settle for my tendency to stuff things. I love that we tell each other everything, because we trust each other and know that love that holds a couple together has to be unconditional.

From him:

What was the absolute best memory from your wedding day?
One of my favorite parts of our wedding day was the first dance. Dancing the night away at a fraternity formal was our first date, and dancing continued to be a consistent go-to date night we enjoyed through our three years of dating. On our wedding day, we danced a typical “first dance” slow song to “What a Wonderful World.” Then, the band transitioned into “Walking on Sunshine” for one of our favorite swing dance routines. It was a blast to have something that was such a significant part of our dating relationship be such a special moment on our wedding day.

What is the best gift you have ever given each other?
The best gift we have ever given each other during almost 15 years of marriage is our kids. Our three children bring us so much life and is a gift I couldn’t have without Meg being a part of my life. It is such a privilege to be entrusted with the cultivation of three little souls. It’s certainly not without it’s overwhelming moments and trials that require the continual intentional pursuit of our marriage. But undoubtedly, it is one of the most rewarding grace gifts I could possibly imagine.
