Erin and Brian met one summer while Erin was on break from the University of Georgia and Brian was preparing to enter his senior year at The Citadel. However, it wasn’t until a few years down the road that they actually started dating. After a year and half, Brian popped the question over the Christmas holiday with a surprise Charleston proposal. He asked Erin to marry him atop the Wentworth Mansion with the skyline of the Holy City surrounding them. After she said yes, they hopped in a horse-drawn carriage to head to dinner where both of their families drove in to surprise them and keep the celebration going! They got married on May 29, 2010 at The Citadel’s Summerall Chapel, followed by a reception at Hibernian Hall. If that’s not the most perfect southern fairytale, we don’t know what is.

What was the most unique part of your engagement story?
Brian planned an amazing engagement! It was a few days after Christmas, and I was in Atlanta at my parents’ house. My mom woke me up to tell me I needed to catch a plane to Charleston. A limo picked me up from the Charleston airport and took me to the Mills House downtown. From there, I hopped in a carriage to head to the Wentworth Mansion where I found Brian on one knee on the rooftop. It was awesome!
What is the most awesome thing about your marriage?
I think the best thing about our marriage is that it literally gets better every single day. Brian’s my best friend – he’s caring, supportive and hilarious. We have a great time together in all that we do, whether it’s hanging out on the couch at home binge-watching The Big Bang Theory or taking a weekend vacation. There’s no one else I’d rather spend my life with.
