Brooke and John met in middle school, grew together as individuals and friends, and then committed the rest of their lives to grow as a couple. Twelve years ago, they got married in the church they met at in middle school youth group. Brooke and John are now working in Gig Harbor as youth pastors with three little ones. Their marriage has been an incredible journey of love, commitment, and sacrifice. We are so excited to celebrate these two at The Big Fake Wedding Seattle!

What is the best date you have ever had?

Over the years we’ve ended up in some pretty incredible places, whether it’s a night watching fireworks at the Eiffel Tower or beach getaway on the Oregon coast we strive to invest in each other. Most nights it’s making a dessert after the kids go to bed and getting a RedBox movie. From big dates to small ones, making time for each other is a high value in our relationship.

What inspires you about each other?

From Johnny:  I’m so inspired by Brooke on a daily basis. I’ve seen her grow to become a beautiful mother to our kids. She looks for life lessons every day and takes advantage of those teachable moments. I love seeing her patience and loving the family.

From Brooke:  Johnny is a constant example of love. Serving others is a lifestyle and he does it so effortlessly. He is dedicated, willing to try anything and is confident in who God made him to be. He steps up when no one else does. He is high capacity and doesn’t let little things stress him. He’s an amazing communicator and is passionate about telling others about Jesus. He remembers people’s faces, names and details they don’t even remember- he’s personable. He is the life of the party and a close confidant to many. He’s inspirational!

These words describe him well: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

What advice would you give an engaged couple?

Every engaged couple needs to understand that when you say I do to your spouse on your wedding day, you are saying I will be there for you in your best moments and in your worst moments. When we are in the honeymoon stage, we don’t realize there will be hard moments ahead. But we fall back on the idea that this person is on this journey for life, no matter what happens.
