“…Honestly a wedding is all about the love two people share with each other, the promise they’re making, the two families becoming one and your best friends who support you.” We couldn’t agree more. Ashley and Matthew met a few summers ago when Ashley was painting a mural at the hangar where Matthew currently works. The two became close friends and kept in touch when Matthew was deployed a few months later. When he returned, they started going on dates and the rest is history. The precious pair was married in Chatham Square in August 2014.

We met in the summer of 2012 at Hunter Army Airfield, I was painting a mural at the hangar where Matthew currently works. He ended up deploying in December of 2012 and during the deployment we remained really close friends. When he returned we still hung out as friends and then started going on a couple of dates. We got married in Chatham Square in August of 2014!
From him:
Ashley and I met at Hunter Army Airfield while she was painting a mural in the office. We remained close friends for the next two years and when I got back from deployment we began our awesome relationship. We fell in love quickly and it was history from there!
What was the most unique part of your engagement story?
From her:
A really long story short… It was all a big surprise with friends involved! I had no idea he was even thinking about proposing. He bought me a dress to wear for a “dinner” next weekend. My friend and I ended up meeting her husband and my “boyfriend” at the time in Chippewa Square in downtown Savannah. We get there and he had a dozen red roses, gave them to me and asked to take pictures. Still not knowing whats going on, he stood behind me for pictures. Our friend who was taking our pictures told me to turn around, and when I did Matt was kneeling on one knee. After proposing he asked if I was aware what Square we were in. He proposed in the Square where Forrest Gump was filmed, our favorite movie!

What is the best gift you have ever given each other?
From him:
I bought her an adorable pomchi puppy named Hank.
What was the best memory of your wedding day?
From her:
We did an incredibly small wedding by saying our vows with just our families and our best friends, so I think there was a total of 15 people with us. My family lives in Texas and his lives in Virginia so they both came down to spend this day with us. My dad is a pastor so he is the one who married us, which meant so much! Our wedding was super relaxed – I wore a white sundress with cowgirl boots and he wore jeans with his cowboy boots, everyone who came wore whatever they would be most comfortable in, in the middle of the August heat. It was truly a perfect day, we didn’t have a big wedding by any means, and honestly a wedding is all about the love two people share with each other, the promise they’re making, the two families becoming one and your best friends who support you.
