We’re elated to introduce you to our day-of coordinator for The Big Fake Wedding Los Angeles, Jessica of Jessica Foster Events! After working with many, many brides, Jessica has a ton of wisdom on when it comes to your wedding day. Today Jessica is sharing with us some practical advice on what you can skip and save on when it comes to your big day!

Jessica grew up in Southern California and loves taking full advantage of the gorgeous weather. When she’s not helping ensure her couples have the smoothest, happiest day of their lives, you can find her doing home reno, hitting the farmer’s market, and taking in the views of LA’s hiking trails. With a background in product development and special events in the fashion industry, Jessica brings her sense of style and attention to detail to every wedding.

Things You Can Skip and Save On

For most of us, planning a wedding is uncharted territory and it can be a bit hard to navigate what you need to have versus what people say you need to have. Luckily, I’m here to give you the top 5 things you can skip and save on when it comes to your big day!

Favors
There are so many cute things out there to give to your guests as a thank you for celebrating with you. A lot of them can be budget friendly too! But lately, I have more and more couples deciding to skip favors all together. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve gotten some great wedding favors (homemade bbq sauce, family recipe cookies), so apparently my favorites are food related. But how many times have you gone home with something that you don’t ever use or that ends up in the garbage? Skip the favors, save yourself a few hundred dollars, and, instead, put your heartfelt gratitude into your thank you cards for each guest.

Full Bar
You can’t please everyone, so shelling out for full bar service to try to make everyone’s drink order dreams come true is just going to leave you with empty pockets.  Instead, stick to beer, wine, and a signature cocktail. This gives everyone a good variety of drink choices without breaking the bank!

RSVP Cards
We are living in the technology age, people! Having your RSVP’s set up online will not only save you money on postage but will make your life a lot easier in tracking your guests. Bonus points for those that choose e-vites. There are some really pretty designs out there!

Programs
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of all paper goods. But you might save some by skipping printed programs and opting for a sign listing the ceremony participants. If you choose a cute chalk frame or mirror it could be re-purposed in your home afterward!

Large Wedding Cake
A lot of my brides are opting for a small wedding cake and a mix of small desserts. I’m pretty sure everyone loves wedding cake, but how about some variety? Choose a mix of small sweets that can be packed in treat bags and double as favors!
