We think the only thing sweeter than Nikkolette’s Macarons is Nikkolette herself. Known for making desserts for her friends and family, she has always been passionate about baking, but once she set her sights on the elegant macaron – her life changed. Each macaron is hand-made by Nikkolette, using only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients… and your taste buds are sure to notice the difference!
We had such a blast with Nikkolette at The Big Fake Wedding Minneapolis, and we’re so excited to share a little more about them in today’s Vendor Highlight.
Tell us a little bit about the story of Nikkolette’s Macarons.
I’ve always loved baking and have read about how hard macarons were to bake and perfect. So, I decided to give it a try and failed countless times. However, I learned from each attempt and slowly got better at making them each time. After friends and family tried them I was asked if I would make some for a friend’s wedding and then received orders from others that attended! Next thing I knew I had a business.
What is the “sweetest” part of your job?
I am a perfectionist and only allow perfect macarons to go out the door. So, I love to hear back from my customers and their guests about how much they love the macarons I make!
Describe a highlight or pivotal moment in your career.
Two big moments come to mind for me. The first was the time I had a rush order for 3,000 macarons needed in a very short timeline, with multiple custom flavor/color combinations. I was able to exceed all of my customer’s needs and it was the first moment I said “I can do this!” The second, was when I was chosen to be one of six vendors represented at the Artisanal section of the Chipotle Cultivate Festival for the two years they were in Minneapolis. It really gave my business a jump-start in the community.
What advice would you give to aspiring small business owners?
Follow your passions, listen to exactly what people want, provide the best customer service experience and always deliver the highest quality product. The rest will take care of itself.
What is your favorite part of The Big Fake Wedding experience?
I really enjoyed getting real time feedback from all the people in attendance and meeting other vendors in the wedding industry in my area.
