“Hearing someone’s life story is an incredible way to learn and grow in your own personal life…the best way to learn what to do is not to ask for advice, but to ask for stories and learn from the experience of others.” It’s kind of an understood prerequisite to this industry that you’ve got to love and understand people. Lucky for us, our new Production Manager, Landrum, pretty much wrote the book on this. She’s the perfect combination of sweet and straightforward, so she can get things done like a boss but always does so with a smile on her face. Could we ask for a better person to be producing our events?! Landrum brings a wonderfully unique perspective to The Big Fake Wedding, as she has been on nearly every side of the wedding industry – a vendor, a guest, a wedding planner – and now that she’s engaged, a bride! We are so thrilled to have Landrum on our team, and we hope you enjoy learning a little bit about her in her Staff Highlight.

Describe yourself in five words.
Driven, adventurous, affectionate, dependable, and compassionate.
Who or what inspires you?
Stories inspire me. Hearing someone’s life story is an incredible way to learn and grow in your own personal life. Whether the life story involves climbing a mountain or raising five kids, every story can teach you something, so it’s important to just listen. One of my mentors taught me that the best way to learn what to do is not to ask for advice, but to ask for stories and learn from the experience of others.
What is the number one item on your bucket list?
Gosh, how do I even decide? I have a love for adventure and a love for travel. Usually the two go hand and hand. If I could pick an adventure to go on tomorrow it would be visiting Machu Picchu in Peru. I’m currently obsessed with the idea of traveling to areas with a lot of history!
If you could only give one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don’t live for the approval of men. I have spent some much of my life worrying about what others thought of me and it stole my joy. It was a lot of weight to carry and I could never work hard enough to please everyone. Once I realized that if I simply give it my best effort, feel confident in my own work and only seek the approval of the Lord, it freed me to be joyful in my day to day life.
You’re engaged! What do you think your current season of life brings to your role at The Big Fake Wedding?
I get it. I get what the brides are experiencing and wanting and I get what the vendors are working towards. I have had the honor of seeing almost every side of the wedding industry at this point. I’ve been a vendor, I’ve been a guest, I’ve been a wedding planner and now I’m a bride! My goal in this role is to use my experience and insight to make this the best experience for not only the brides attending the weddings, but also an incredible experience for the vendors too!
