What’s the key to succeeding as a small business? To put it simply, listening and communication. According to Rentals Unlimited, the combination of listening to and communicating with clients is critical when building business/client relationships, and we couldn’t agree more. This New England based event rental company is doing everything right; from their extensive line of products to their wonderful attitude and work ethic, they totally have things figured out. We had the privilege of working with them at both of our Cape Cod events, and are lucky enough to have Savannah of Rentals Unlimited give us a little insight into this wonderful company in today’s Vendor Highlight.

“Rentals Unlimited is a joy to work with. They have an amazing line of products and we were fortunate enough to feature a lot of their amazing line at our event.”

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job would have to be having the ability to experience so many different kinds of events. One day I can be focused on a small intimate barn wedding and the next I am putting swatches together for a 400 guest Indian celebration! Each event, whether it be a wedding, mitzvah, corporate or photo shoot, has its own individuality, vision and style. I love having the privilege of working with so many different types of clients and being a part in making their special occasion one of a kind!

Who or what inspires you?
When I am in need of some inspiration I find myself looking through home and garden magazines to see what is being featured for colors, patterns and how they are all being paired together. I tend to browse through all different kinds of stores and shops just to feel textures and find little odds and ends. Also, I would be lying if I said I didn’t scroll through the pages of Pinterest just to see what people are pinning! But my deepest inspiration comes from my parents. My dad has an incredible ability to mentally visualize ideas and follow through perfectly without hesitation. As for my mom, she is strong-willed and determined; there’s no stopping her when she has her mind set on something. I like to think that the combination of the two has given me the abilities to visualize ideas, follow them through and learn from times when those ideas don’t work out so well!

What advice would you give to aspiring small business owners?
My advice to aspiring small business owners would have to be to listen to your client. They will tell you exactly what they want if you listen. I am still learning how to do this effortlessly because sometimes it is hard to compromise your own vision with theirs. Communication is also key with your clients; letting them know you are thinking of them and their needs just by sending a quick follow up email or phone call lets them know you have not forgotten about their event that may be a year from now. With the combination of listening and communicating I think that is a good road to be on when building business/client relationships – usually those tend to last the longest.

What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
My favorite part of The NotWedding experience would have to be the relationship I built with Jamie Bohlin [an Account Executive at The Big Fake Wedding] for this event. She trusted me with free reign of what I wanted to showcase at the event with guidelines from her inspiration board. Rentals Unlimited was a part of the 2013 and 2014 Cape Cod NotWedding events and both times we were able to showcase our product successfully and beautifully all while meeting new people and building relationships.
