What is the best part of your job?
Making new friends! I almost lose myself with excitement each time I get to meet with a new bride and groom for coffee. What could possibly be dreamier than listening to the unfolding of a newly scripted love story?!
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
A freelance makeup and hairstylist. I have a huge drawer dedicated to just hair products and spend far too much time in Sephora.
Describe the ideal bride to work with.
I love working with brides who have kindred spirits and consider me a friend, not a vendor. For it’s in the environment of friendship that real emotions, and beating hearts are permitted to spill forth. It also excites me when I get to work with a bride who is not afraid to try something new… because hey, you only get to have one wedding!
What is the biggest risk you’ve taken?
I’m just kind of a risk taker in general… For instance, yesterday morning I hung my feet off the edge of a huge cliff (in California) to get a picture of them with the view out in front, and then that afternoon I asked a random couple if I could do a photo session for them in a vineyard. I thrive on adventure, and have found that some of the greatest things in life happen when you step out onto places that take you far beyond your comfort zone!
What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
Feeling like I was in on something that was helping build my community! The whole set up of the day is brilliant, but the relationships you walk away with are everything!! Oh and the goodie bags are pretty lovely too:)
