“I am never bored as long as I have something in my hand to draw with; at times, in a pinch, I have even used lipstick.” Illustrator of weddings, parties, showers, corporate events and more, Denise of Denise Fike Designs wears many hats — literally! Donning a fabulous fascinator as she effortlessly crafted unforgettable pieces of art, Denise totally blew us away. We were thrilled to have Denise as a part of the1st Philadelphia NotWedding and proudly introduce her as our Vendor of the Week.
Describe your business in 5 words.
Classically artistic yet entirely original.
Who inspires me?
What doesn’t inspire me? From the ebullience of my Grandson, James, the bizarre beauty of a passionflower, to the elegance of beautiful bride posing in anticipation. As soon as I open my eyes each morning, I am itchy to create.
Why art?
Oh my, I wouldn’t exist without art. I am never bored as long as I have something in my hand to draw with; at times, in a pinch, I have even used lipstick.
Who is your biggest fan and why?
Without a doubt, my family. They attend every opening, lug giant paintings to galleries; my daughters-in law pose for me; my sons photograph me as I draw at public events for my social media; my husband makes my giant frames. And best of all, they make me laugh.
What is your Favorite part of the NotWedding experience?
The NotWedding created a festive evening; excitement that built from the moment I walked in the door. The buzz, as everyone gathered to create a splash for the bride and groom, was kinetic. The feeling that transpired felt completely genuine as we prepared for the moment when the bride walked down the aisle. The party that exploded after “I DO” was brilliant.
