Britton and Bailee met in high school – you know, the basketball player-meets-cheerleader type of story. He treated her like a princess throughout six months of being deep in the friend zone. After four years of long-distance dating in college, he asked her to be his bride in the same walkway of their high school where he awkwardly asked her to be his girlfriend nearly six years prior. Bailee and Britton were married thereafter at the same spot her parents said “I do”. We’re looking forward to celebrating these two at The Big Fake Wedding Los Angeles!
What was the most unique part of your engagement story?
The day of our engagement was the day of my 21st birthday. Because of this, I wasn’t surprised when my sister suggested we get our nails done, or when Britton had planned a cute, little walk-through of our old high school to reminisce about younger times. We laughed as I did a cartwheel in the gym when we recalled all the games I had cheered for him at, we sat in the same seats we would sit in during chapel when Britton would try to sneak glances in my direction, and finally we walked to the side of the campus where there was the most beautifully decorated walkway I had ever seen. As I tried to take in all of the twinkling lights, candles, rose petals, and delicate curtains, Britton grabbed my hand and explained it was in this very spot that he had asked me to be his girlfriend; this time though, as he got down on one knee, he asked me to FINALLY be his wife.
What inspires you about each other?
From her: Britton truly inspires me daily. He is a constant encourager, he is compassionate towards those around him, and he is a servant-minded leader.
From him: I’m inspired by Bailee’s persistence. She always had a determination to accomplish anything she had committed to. She goes all out and works relentlessly at things she decides are important. It has been amazing to watch her in action over the last 7 years. She has brought that same mindset into our marriage and I’m blessed to by married to a woman who is so determined to have an incredible marriage. Her desire and consistent efforts only make me want to continue to strive for the same level of grit and determination. I know that no matter what comes our way we will fight together for what we have committed to pursuing; a God-honoring marriage.
What is the most awesome thing about your marriage?
From her: The most awesome thing about our marriage is its togetherness and consistency. We start each day with an “I love you” and spend the rest of it serving each other, or together serving others.
From him: It may sound a little cliche but the best part about our marriage is that we are best friends. We have so much fun with each other and I don’t think that aspect of our marriage will ever go away.
What advice would you give an engaged couple?
From her: Don’t sweat the small stuff. Also, it’s all small stuff.
From him: Never stop doing the little things for each other.
