The 5 Reasons Why You Should Elope
Deciding to elope or host a smaller wedding is not as easy as it seems. You will get flak from friends and loved ones and you may even start to feel like you’re shorting yourself out of a true wedding experience. There are great options available that don’t require you to jump on a plane to Vegas or settle on going to the courthouse. We’re team #IntimateNuptials and we’re here to support you through this decision. Here are the 5 reasons why we believe eloping is a great idea!
1. Cha-Ching!
The average cost of a wedding in the U.S. is about $30,000! Most couples are taking on the financial burden themselves to pay for their weddings. By making the decision to wed with your closest family and friends as witnesses (up to 50) or with just you and your love, you’d only be spending a fraction of that! You can eliminate the cost for stationery, décor, catering, entertainment, and tons of other traditional wedding elements. The majority of the budget is from having the celebration, not the ceremony. Who doesn’t enjoy cutting costs and saving money? Um…yes, please!
2. Stress-Free Zone
Yay, you’re planning for the BEST DAY EVER! It’s the most important day of your life, so what can possibly go wrong? Let’s face it, the term Bridezilla didn’t come from nowhere. You may find yourself crying tears of frustration because that one bridesmaid just isn’t taking her duties seriously enough, or because the groom isn’t enthused about the cardstock you selected for the invitations. He may think it’s just paper! When you elope you have the luxury of keeping things simple and easy. A lot of the packages available are inclusive, so you won’t have to worry about all the little details. They’ve got it all covered!
3. Convenience
The wedding planning process can typically start 12 months out. You have to allot for enough time to book your venue and vendors. This can be very difficult for couples who have to plan around a military deployment or a couple that want to get married before their baby comes. Opting for a small elopement style wedding gives you freedom and more flexibility to wed during the day and during the week, if you wanted. Life happens, so instead of planning your wedding in fear that you’ll get that devastating phone call about your loved one, just apply for your marriage license, pick a date, invite your parents, and get married!
4. Intimate & Personal
More time than not, the focus is placed on the wedding than the actual marriage itself. We get caught up in the BEST DAY EVER that we forget about the whole reason why we’re doing it. Weddings are made up of roughly 25% ceremony and 75% reception. What if we shifted the focus solely on the ceremony? After all, you and your partner are pledging your love to one another and affirming your commitment with vows. This should not be taken lightly. Any guest you decide to invite to witness this tremendous life milestone should be honored and privileged to have been chosen. You want the people there that will encourage you, pray for your union, cheer you on, and will continue to support you, not the ones more concerned about what time the bar will open.
5. Your day, your way!
Eliminate all the fuss of trying to make everyone happy and shift that focus on just you! When you elope you are not compelled to people please. It’s all about you, your partner, and your heart desires. You’re not bound or obligated to any typical wedding traditions. And if you don’t possess the so called “bride gene”, eloping is the PERFECT option. Will your mom still cringe at the idea that you’re getting married in converses? It’s possible, but when she sees the joy on your face as you walk down the aisle, her heart will smile.
Regardless if you chose a wedding that’s big, small, or somewhere in between just remember to always keep marriage at the center of it. YOU GOT THIS and we can help, Happy Planning!
