Ten years ago, Jessica + Critty became friends through work, but ultimately had to go their separate ways for new jobs. A year or so later, Critty reached out to Jessica to try to rekindle their friendship. He set his sights on asking her out, and though it took a few months of convincing, Jessica said yes. Dating may have had its highs and lows but on his parents’ wedding anniversary, Critty popped the question. In May of 2012, they said yes to forever with one another. The last four years have been their best yet.
We are so excited to celebrate these two at The Big Fake Wedding Charleston tomorrow night at The Gadsden House! It’s not too late to grab your tickets!
What inspires you about each other?
Jessica: His carefree spirit. He’s the best for reminding me it’s okay to stop and he’s the best person to celebrate even the tiniest of milestones.
Critty: Her hard work and determination. She makes me feel my most comfortable self, and with her I know even the darkest day will end in sunshine. She doesn’t know the definition of the word ‘quit’.
What was the absolute best memory from your wedding day?
Jessica: Getting actually married to Critty.
Critty: Being introduced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Smith. And of course celebrating with our family and friends.
What is the most awesome thing about your marriage?
Jessica: We’re each others best friends and we want to work together. Through thick and thin I know he’s going to be there. When it gets hard I know we’re going to stop and take the time to figure it out. On the flip side, I couldn’t love more lounging on the sofa with anyone else and laughing and falling asleep together each night.
Critty: The fact that we are each other’s best friend. There’s no judgement – we’re the first person we reach out to when in need, we can be vulnerable, we can be serious, we can be ridiculous, we can be silly and we love each other all the more. The most important thing at the end of the day is that’s your boo – the person you go to sleep with each night and wake up to each morning.
What advice would you give an engaged couple?
Jessica: The most important part of your wedding day is the person standing across from you during your ceremony AND that they say ‘I do”. Because there will be things that go awry in life or not be exactly right, but NONE of the amazing things that happen would be happening if it weren’t for the two of you.
Critty: Never go to bed angry at each other, always say you’re sorry when you’re wrong, never quit on each other and always work hardest for each other. Be the bright shining star in each other’s lives.
