Tell us a little bit about the story of The GuestBox.
We’re Ben & Heather Rhodes. Our special day was a little over two years ago and The GuestBox was there! Our guests could not stop talking about how fun, entertaining, and unique this idea was. The compliments continued once we shared our highlight video with all our friends and family. We knew this entertainment MADE our wedding for so many guests, especially those that didn’t partake in the dance floor party. We couldn’t stop talking, thinking, and sharing our experience! This led us to a decision to share this unique option with more couples just like us!

Our goal is for every couple to have the opportunity to engage, involve, and entertain each guest at their wedding; and as a bonus there’s a permanent (and HILARIOUS) recording to capture these memories forever!

The GuestBox is a unique video booth activity that gives guests an opportunity to enter into a little game of truth of dare about YOU (the bride and groom-or whoever the party may be for). The privacy of the booth allows for inhibitions to shed at the curtain doors and guests can freely show off to their optimal potential. This is a great form of entertainment added to your cocktail hour and reception. It keeps guests of all ages engaged and active throughout the entirety of your night. Even those that aren’t crazy about dancing have been known to get crazy in the booth!

What is the best part of your job?
We love hearing other peoples stories. Genuinely engaging, forming friendships, and cultivating relationships with other couples is one of the most rewarding benefits of our job. There is also something magical about the walls of our enclosed little booth that brightens peoples spirits, awakes their imagination, and brings out laughs, smiles, stories, and dance moves. We watch shy and quiet personalities transform into loud opera singers, insanely good rappers, and lip synch rockstars. It’s awesome to provide an outlet for people to just be happy. It is also really fun to work alongside each other on a project thats risky but rewarding. We feel like it’s our baby and were experiencing pre-parenthood training 🙂

Describe a highlight or pivotal moment in your career.
At our first wedding, our nerves were flying high. We arrived very early and set up. The day was spent checking every last detail and anxiously awaiting the event start time. We felt like fish out of water as new business owners and new wedding industry vendors. After that wedding, we went home to make sure all footage came out perfectly. The issue was though… that we could NOT STOP watching the videos. We stayed up WAY too late together just watching, laughing, and discussing the night, the video clips, the couples love, etc. Those precious moments of reflection and laughter truly solidified our decision to take on this new business.

What advice would you give to aspiring small business owners?
Pray. Let God lead your decisions and impress His plan upon your heart, then just FOLLOW. It takes a lot to put aside fears, logistics, budgets, etc. There are tons of reasons why jumping into a business would be scary, but having faith in your decision and pushing that fear aside, is often what will lead to amazing rewards. The key though, is to keep a realistic scope of how hard you’ll need to work while aspiring for unrealistic but God sized goals. We also really think success comes from valuing each and every INDIVIDUAL you work with. The best way to get more clients is to start with one and put everything into them – everything.

What is your favorite part of The Big Fake Wedding experience?
We loved meeting all of the genuine and just all around good people. We sometimes say it sounds so simple, but after meeting someone, my husband and I often say, “they’re just good people”. You know, those people that you can almost see their heart when in conversation with them and can just tell its overflowing with love for others, humility, and a desire to see everyone succeed. We truly experienced so many of those interactions at The Big Fake Wedding events.  The staff was awesome, the vendors were awesome, and the guests had so much fun! It was also really exciting to participate in a bridal show that we got to show off our product versus just explaining it. We have a unique idea and participating creates what our brand truly is and sometimes thats hard to grasp with just words; which made The Big Fake Wedding perfect for us.
