“The best part about my job is seeing the reactions from my guests when they see themselves all dolled up for their events! It is truly life changing when I get to impact people’s lives on a daily basis by making them feel the most beautiful they can with my hair and makeup skills.” Anastasia of Concepts by Anastasia is a makeup magician, y’all. She and her team do truly stunning work, while making the experience really fun and memorable at the same time. The best part about Anastasia, however, is how much each bride means to her – she really cares and makes you feel special! We absolutely loved working with Anastasia and her team at The Big Fake Wedding Dallas, and we hope you enjoy reading a little more about Concepts by Anastasia in today’s Vendor Highlight.

Tell us a little bit about the story of Concepts by Anastasia.
I created Concepts by Anastasia in 2011 in the Dallas area as a special events hair and makeup business. I had been working with another company in town for about 4 years at that point and really loved what I was doing. I have never wanted to rely solely on someone else for my income and feel I have a very driven personality. Concepts by Anastasia started small and has grown more than I could have ever imagined in the short 4 years that I have had the business. I am adding team members slowly and training them myself, which I take huge pride in. I am so honored that other artists see my work as valuable and my knowledge as necessary for this every changing industry of hair and makeup. I look forward to the future for my company and will continue to uphold the standards and goals I have set for Concepts by Anastasia.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part about my job is seeing the reactions from my guests when they see themselves all dolled up for their events! It is truly life changing when I get to impact people’s lives on a daily basis by making them feel the most beautiful they can with my hair and makeup skills. I also thoroughly enjoy teaching my team all of the wisdom and lessons I have learned throughout the years. I feel it is vital to pay it forward and help those budding artists and people around us to better educate the next generation!

Describe a highlight or pivotal moment in your career.
There have been many highlights thus far in my short time as a small business owner. One that sticks out to me is when I was chosen to be the hair and makeup artist for Mrs. Oklahoma 2013 at her National pageant in Las Vegas, NV. It was such an honor because not only is she one of my best friends but also a fellow hair and makeup artist. I find that when my peers believe in me to the point of giving me such a large opportunity, it gives me wings to fly with!

What advice would you give to aspiring small business owners?
Advice that I would give to aspiring small business owners is to remain humble and kind no matter what level of success you reach. Pay your people what they are worth and hire people with similar goals and aesthetics as you! Remain true to your brand, build your brand and never, ever stop learning!

What is your favorite part of The Big Fake Wedding experience?
My favorite part of The Big Fake Wedding experience was the actual event! It was AWESOME to see a touching and real vow renewal, eat all of the delicious food and drink the delicious drinks, dance and have fun with all of the people who made the party possible, as well as the deserving guests! The team was incredibly organized and the day went so smoothly that is was easy to celebrate all of my fellow vendors and their amazing work! I felt truly blessed to be a part of something so special and will cherish the memories and relationships made from the event.
