“You and me together, we can do anything, baby.” Better together than apart – Dave Matthews pretty much sums up our New England couple in a nutshell. Abbie and Alex met their sophomore year of college during an orientation for transfer students. They quickly became friends, were dating by the summer, and engaged a year later in Bradley Palmer Park. In June 2010, these college sweethearts married in Abigail’s hometown of New Milford, Connecticut.
We are so excited to celebrate Abbie and Alex as they renew their vows at The Big Fake Wedding New England tomorrow night at Willowdale Estate. We hope to see you there!

What was the absolute best memory from your wedding day?
Abbie: The absolute best memory from our wedding day is the look on Alex’s face as I walked down the aisle, I don’t remember anyone else being in the church right then; I just remember how happy he looked. Our wedding photographer captured that moment perfectly and it makes me smile every time I look at it.
Alex: The absolute best memory from our wedding day was definitely the moment I saw Abbie as she started to walk down the aisle. Everything slowed down and felt perfect. I’ll never forget that moment for the rest of my life.
What is “your song” and why?
Abbie: Our song is ‘You and Me’ by Dave Matthews Band – it’s the song we danced to at our wedding. The chorus says “you and me together, we can do anything” and the whole song is about how this couple can do so much more together than they can apart. To me it perfectly described how I pictured our life together; a couple who loves and inspires each other so much that they can do anything, even fly. After 5 years of marriage neither of us can fly, but my picture of a couple who loves and inspires each other has definitely come true.
What is the most awesome thing about your marriage?
Alex: The most awesome thing about our marriage is just how supportive we are of each other. We are each other’s biggest motivators and encouragers. I know that whatever it is I am going through, Abbie will be right there by my side.
What advice would you give an engaged couple?
Abbie: The advice I always give to my engaged friends is to remember that everything might not go perfectly on your wedding day, but at the end of it you’re going to be married to your best friend – and that’s the best part!
Alex: Just relax and enjoy it. Things get crazy and move fast, but set time aside to spend with each other away from all the busyness.
