Meet Johna, one of our newest (well, sort of) members of The Big Fake Wedding family. Although she just *officially* joined the team as our Director of Operations, Johna came into our lives/hearts a year ago as as intern. Needless to say, we liked her so much that we decided we needed her full-time! Compassionate, creative, and extroverted, Johna manages the details that make The Big Fake Wedding spin. If you reach out to us, chances are she will be the first person you speak to! In her spare time, Johna takes pretty pictures, explores Atlanta, and loves her people (and shows it with pancakes – keep reading, you’ll see).

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I might be new to The Big Fake Wedding staff, but I don’t feel new to the family. A year ago, The Big Fake Wedding took me on as an intern and I worked under Callie. It was such an incredible experience and I grew such great relationships that I kept in contact with Callie + company over the course of my last year in college. With fingers crossed the months leading up to graduation, it just so happened that there was a place for me to come back to the fam.
Before working here, I was going to school in Sweet Milledgeville, GA getting a degree in Communications. I’ve lived in small towns all my life, so moving to the big city has been an awfully big adventure.
Describe yourself in five words.
Compassionate. Creative. Extroverted. Awkwardly Cute.
What does your dream day look like?
A good day always starts with brunch, continues with exploring a city, finding an Anthropologie, grabbing tacos and milkshakes, and ending it with a drive-in movie. Oh and can I add a hot air balloon ride somewhere in there? All with my favorite human being, Freddy Castro.
What is your favorite quote and why?
The next step is all you need to know.
(I’m pretty sure that I stumbled across this quote on Ashley Buzzy’s Insta. Shoutout if it’s a Buzzy original.) It’s a lesson that I re-learn daily. If we’re using a staircase metaphor here, I really just need the light to shine at the step right in front of me. If I knew what was up ahead, I would be a mad woman.
If you could host a dinner for 3 people (dead or alive), who would they be and what would you serve?
Let’s see, I’d host Truett Cathy because I would like to hear from him about balancing being a businessman and a believer. Second, would be Anne Hathaway, because duh. And also Ben Rector. He’s probably the most humble famous person ever. We would definitely have breakfast for dinner. Making pancakes for people is my love language.
What is your favorite part of The Big Fake Wedding?
For sure the people that I work with. I’m pretty sure if my job was the person that puts stickers on fruit it would still be great with them. Oh. And where I work. Have you seen The Greenhouse? That light though.
