By now, you already know how much we love surprises (proposals, baby announcements, you name it) and weddings (real and fake) – so a surprise wedding pretty much made our little hearts explode. So how in the world do you pull off a surprise wedding, you may ask? The formula looks a little something like this: one sweet, deserving couple + an amazing network of talented vendors and generally wonderful human beings + a lot of love. Check out Jennifer and Brian’s incredible story below!

Jennifer and Brian were planning a wedding in September, but when they found out Brian was being transferred to Tokyo in June, they started planning to secretly head to the courthouse on May 8th. Jennifer told her friend, Callie, who happens to be our CEO, about her plans and mentioned how sad she was to miss the experience of her dad walking her down the aisle. She wanted Brian to have that moment of seeing her in a dress, but they knew there wasn’t time to make that possible.
In true Callie Murray form, she began reaching out to her widespread network of wedding industry sweethearts, and together they started to plan an amazing surprise wedding for these two. Jennifer only knew it was happening, but didn’t know any of the details. As for Brian, however, he was under the impression that he was meeting her at the courthouse. Instead, his dad dropped him off at the wedding location, where his mom awaited with a boutonniere in front of a sign that read, “Welcome to the wedding of Jennifer and Brian.” She handed him a letter from Jennifer that let him know that they would be able to experience a wedding ceremony after all, and then his parents walked him down the aisle where their family and close friends (who had come in from all different parts of the country) were waiting.
A musician played their song as Jennifer walked down the aisle, and after the ceremony, played as Jennifer and Brian had their first dance and dances with their parents. After that came dinner, cake, and toasts on the front porch (graciously donated by the florist!), and the night ended with a pretty rad coffee truck and a lantern release.
The next day was their “engagement party” and they got to let everyone else in on their little secret: they were married!
