Whimsical, romantic, and natural – when it comes to Emily Millay Photography, we could go on and on. Emily’s photos basically look like they were taken in heaven, not to mention working with her is a dream. She is sweet as can be, tons of fun, and incredibly easy to work with, and the fact that she takes such exquisite photos makes her the total package! It was truly an honor having Emily at both the third Charleston NotWedding and The Big Fake Wedding Charlotte, and we can’t wait to work with her again.

“Emily loves what she does, and it’s so evident. She’s passionate about her images and her clients, focused on the event, and dedicated to exceeding expectations. She killed it with some of the most beautiful images I’ve ever seen, and her dedication to come all the way from Ohio!”

Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by many things! I always find myself in nature; the beauty and stillness of being in an open field, hiking in the mountains or getting up early to watch the sunrise. Several of my friends are also wedding photographers, and each of them inspire and motivate me on a daily basis. I love how we can all be together shooting the same subject, yet each one of us sees it in a different way, creating something equally as beautiful, yet completely different.

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
I went to school for fine art, where I studied print making and paper making. I think that if I was not a wedding photographer, I would have continued to work on my thesis and study alternative print processes. I also have a love for flowers, so I could see myself being a florist!

Describe a highlight or pivotal moment in your career.
A highlight in my career, thats tough! There have been so many amazing moments. I am constantly amazed by the success in my business. However, I think one moment that sticks out is the first destination wedding phone call I received. The couple lives in Arizona and found me through Facebook.  I was traveling at the Chicago airport when she called, I almost didn’t believe it at first! I flew to Arizona a few months later to do engagement photos and spend time getting to know the couple. Last November I traveled to Iowa to shoot their wedding. The entire experience was amazing.

What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience.
I think my favorite part of The NotWedding experience has been getting to know members from the team! You girls are awesome! I am in awe over how you put together these events. For someone who shoots weddings almost every weekend, it is nice to work in the wedding environment, yet everything is completely styled. I don’t have to worry as much about timelines and schedules. It is nice to be able to work on my craft and skill, and being able to enjoy the day relatively stress free!
