“I love that photography is capable of encapsulating a snip of time and has the power to rouse feelings… more importantly, the recollection of feeling a certain way at a certain time.” Leave it to Haley of Photos by Heart to capture how wonderful you felt on the day of your wedding. Everything from the husband and wife team behind the business to the love that shines through each and every photo, we can completely see where the company got its name. It was such an honor working with Haley and her husband at the first Chattanooga NotWedding, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.
“Haley is a doll. Her and her husband are the sweetest duo and such a blast to work with. Their eye for certain shots will bring your memories to life for years to come and they are a joy to be around! Loved working with them – awesome personalities!”

Describe Photos By Heart in 5 words or less.
Telling your story – honestly + warmly.
Why photography?
My interest was initially sparked at sixteen when I took over my parents’ Canon to snap photos at my brother’s wedding. This translated to taking my first photography classes in college (and let’s be honest – these classes were what drove me forward, instead of remaining a perpetual student at UA). While I cut my teeth on photo assignments that covered everything from landscapes to lighting, I found that my heart was invested in photographing people and moments. I love that photography is capable of encapsulating a snip of time and has the power to rouse feelings… more importantly, the recollection of feeling a certain way at a certain time.
Who or what inspires you?
Relationships. Not just the romantic kind (though those are pretty killer), but all these connections we make with the people in our lives – after all, does anything matter more?
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am and have always been a morning person (thanks in part to years of pre-dawn wakeup calls from working in coffeehouses), so I would absolutely say the morning. Nowadays, my son gives me a big squeeze, says “good morning, mama,” and then we set about our usual routine of French press coffee for me and juice for him. After giving our kitty, “Squirrel,” his breakfast, we head upstairs to the office where my boy alternates between playing dinosaurs and requesting that I make paper airplanes. I gear up the music and get to work at my computer. Bliss.
What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
The people… from the inspiring married couple, to The Big Fake Wedding team, to all of the crazy-talented vendors we were fortunate enough to work alongside, to the guests who attended the event. It was impossible to not walk away feeling as though we made a slew of new friends. I’m so excited to see what the future holds for these new friendships.
