Classic, glamorous, romantic – these are just a few words that can be used to describe Josie Kay Photography, and we can think of dozens more. Josie Kay believes that photography isn’t just about giving the client a pretty picture, it’s about the entire experience; the important thing to her is how a couple actually feels while being photographed. Not only does Josie Kay want her clients to have an incredible experience, but also wants them to look back at their photos and be reminded of that feeling. We think this is the best kind of vendor (and person!) and we are so inspired by Josie Kay’s entire outlook on her trade/business/life in general. It was such an honor working with this talented lady at the third Nashville NotWedding, and we’re so excited to feature her on our blog today.

“Josie Kay is so creative and innovative in all that she does. She is a stellar personality to keep around on your wedding day – you’re with your photographer about as much as you are your soon to be husband or wife on your wedding day! She is calm, kind, and a hustler. Her photos truly speak for themselves in talent, but her character and attitude are the extra plus you get in this lady! Absolutely loved working with her!”

Describe Josie Kay Photography in five words or less.
Fun, classic, glamorous + romantic.

Why photography?
Photography for me is not just about giving my clients a pretty picture. It’s about the whole experience from start to finish. It’s about how they felt while they were being photographed, whether it’s making sure a woman feels her most confident or making sure a couple doesn’t stop laughing. I want them to not only have an amazing experience, I want them to look back at their photographs and immediately be reminded of that feeling.

I recently had an engaged couple send me an email after their engagement shoot (which they were really nervous about!) thanking me, saying they were obsessed with their photos, and that they LOVED going back and remembering each moment and what they were laughing about. For me, that’s a win.

Who or what inspires you?
Real women inspire me. Gone are the days where we only look to models, celebrities and what magazines are publishing for inspiration. Now with Instagram being a part of our daily lives, we get to curate our own media by choosing exactly what we want to see and who we want to be inspired by on a daily basis. I’m so inspired by the lifestyles of real diverse women who are killing it in their fields and chasing their dreams (artists, entrepreneurs, moms etc.). I’m also blessed with a group of amazing girlfriends who constantly inspire and motivate me to be my best.

What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is the morning. I’m a total night owl, but I’ve recently started getting up earlier to work out and still have time for a quieter slower morning. Tea, prayer and my Bible makes me handle my day so much better. Now I actually look forward to getting up early.

What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
I loved getting to work with the Not Wedding crew and the other vendors! Seriously, can we all please hang out soon?! It was a great couple of days of meeting and connecting with professionals I wouldn’t have met otherwise. Everyone was at the top of their game and I had so much fun working with them.
