Tell us a little bit about the story behind So-Cal Wedding Music.
SoCal Wedding music started very organically. I (Ryan Hiller, co-founder) was getting a lot of requests to play weddings a few years ago, and really started getting into the industry. Shortly thereafter, my wife Nicole joined me during the receptions, and we began offering full music packages. We are still one of the only companies in San Diego that offers both live music and DJ options all under one roof. Most of our clients are looking for some live music for their ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner, but want a DJ for the dancing during the reception. We now work with some of the best musicians and DJ’s in San Diego, and really love what we do!

Who or what inspires you?
We are inspired by many sources; however in the wedding business, our biggest inspiration comes from the feedback we get from our clients. We have made such amazing connections with people – being a part of such an important day in their lives. We love to keep in contact with our clients, and we are even friends with several of them. To summarize, the inspiration comes from that personal connection we are able to be a part of.

Describe a typical day in your life.
I am a full time musician, and my wife is a yoga teacher. So when we’re not doing wedding stuff, I’m usually recording or rehearsing, and Nicole is doing her thing. We also love surfing, hiking, and being outside.

What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
Our favorite part of The NotWedding experience was meeting all of the great people who work in this business. It was great to be able to have the opportunity to network with not only the clients, but the talented vendors as well.
