After wrapping up 27(!) events in 2014, we are ready to begin a new season in 2015 with new vendors, cities, couples, guests, and a new name, The Big Fake Wedding. Looking back on our wonderful whirlwind of a year, we got a little nostalgic as we reminisced about some of our favorite moments. From surprise proposals and pregnancy announcements to monsoons and model couples, this year was one we will never forget. Although each and every 2014 event was special in its own way, we have narrowed it down to our top ten moments that made us laugh, cry, or simply remind us why this is all worth it. Enjoy!

The One Where The NotWedding Alumni Vendors Hosted a Punk Rock Bridal Shower…and It Was Featured on Ruffled | Jessica Oh Photography
Setting a beautiful (and oh so fun!) example of how collaboration is a darn.good.thing, the talented women behind Jessica Oh Photography, Color Pop Events, Gilded Lily Events and Mia Maria Design collaborated to host a styled bridal shower inspired by punk rock meets prim and proper.

Not only did our Orlando vendors impress us big time, but so did our precious couple. We were thrilled to celebrate Tina and Roy’s wedding vow renewal as well as their surprise baby announcement!

In the sweltering heat of the South Carolina summer, this up fitted airstream saved our cast from melting away – and we think our Charleston team described it best, “Roll With It has got to be one of the coolest things (no air-conditioning pun intended) that we’ve seen in a while! It’s one of those things you never knew you needed until you see it. Definitely an outdoor (or indoor) wedding must-have!”

For the very first time in The NotWedding’s history, we turned to one of our trusted media partners to select our couple. Terra and Daniel, Inspire’s first cover couple, renewed their wedding vows with a goddess in the garden type feel at our first Charlotte event.

Only child of our rockin’ couple, Lagina and Chris, Brooklyn joined us at the Wythe Hotel in April. Her name is perfect and she’s just too cute not to include on this list. Don’t you agree?!

Talk about eye candy…these two are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. It was an honor to celebrate Ashley and Brian at the inaugural Windy City event at City View Loft this past fall.

Kelly and Josh are not only passionate about their own marriage, but they also share our passion for encouraging other solid and committed marriages. So excited that they traveled across the country from Atlanta to participate in our first Denver event – wow, what a humbling experience for our team.

Our first event of the 2014 season was an incredible fake wedding with a pretty awesome flash mob and a very real proposal. Our team could not have been more excited (and honored!) to play a small part in executing the most thoughtful surprise proposal we’ve ever seen. Swoon. Both of our Charleston events this year (July and December) showcased two absolutely stunning ceremonies on the water. In the Lowcountry, you don’t have to look very hard to understand why Charleston is the number one city in the United States…and we think it makes a pretty picturesque background for a fairytale wedding, too.

This one was quite memorable and quite wet. We still can’t quite wrap our heads around how the incredible vendor team moved a ceremony from outside to inside and back out again. Or how the monsoon managed to stop right before the garden ceremony. Regardless of how it happened, it happened and it was beautiful.

Mary Love’s Dad was unexpectedly in the hospital on her real wedding day, but complete with a first look and a father-daughter dance, the Nashville NotWedding gave them a chance to do it again…together. What a special moment for this sweet family and what a special moment for our staff and guests to get to experience. After all, weddings are about family.
