“What scares me the most is reaching the end of my life and realizing I lived it scared.” Fun and fearless photographer, Sarah Becker, tries to do something that scares her every day, and we think that’s how life should be lived! It all started with her big move to New Orleans, where she currently specializes in historic home and plantation weddings. Sarah spends her days excited, brave, and thankful — this zest for life can only be expressed by her stunning photographs. It was a pleasure getting to work with Sarah this summer at the 1st New Orleans NotWedding.

Describe Sarah Becker Photography in five words or less.
Historic home + plantation wedding photographer!
What is the best part of your day?
It’s a tie between when I first wake up in the morning and head to my desk (the potential! the whole day! so much fun stuff to do!) and the evening when I have dinner with my husband, Luke, and we talk about our very different days (he is a drug addictions counselor and a grad student!).
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?
A book reviewer (you can follow my reviews on Instagram, #beckerreadsbooks), a historian, or a real estate agent!
What scares you?
Plenty of things! For the past two years or so I’ve tried to “do something scary every day” (paraphrase from Eleanor Roosevelt) which started with moving to New Orleans! Some days it is as tedious as filing my taxes (I’m always scared the screen will pop up with YOU OWE US A MILLION DOLLARS! It hasn’t yet), as simple as sending an email to someone I admire, or as stomach-turning as speaking in front of a large group. They all count, and they all make me braver! I love this quote from Tracee Ellis Ross, it’s right by my computer so I read it every day: “I am learning every day to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be inspire me and not terrify me.” That being said, what scares me the most is reaching the end of my life and realizing I lived it scared.
What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
Being able to collaborate with so many amazing vendors and The NotWedding team. There’s something about other vendors and creatives, they just get you, and it was so great throwing a party together!
