At The NotWedding, we believe in celebrating real married couples to showcase and encourage solid and committed marriages. Sharing their Sappy Love Stories is just one of the ways we invite our community to get to know these incredible couples – we promise you will want to be friends with Johnetta and Blue after reading this. They compliment each other beautifully, even in retelling their favorite part of their real wedding; they just work. And in our opinion, that’s something to party about!
We are pumped to celebrate Johnetta and Blue as they tie the NOT at the 9th Atlanta NotWedding at Monday Night Brewing tomorrow night! We hope that you will join us for the party – grab your ticket here…there are only a few left!

Tell us your story.
From Blue:
The relationship that we possess is one that is true, fun, quirky and anointed by God. We have been together for a strong twelve years and have experienced life together. We met at church and instantly grew a bond that was founded on friendship. The happiest day of my life was October 14, 2011, when I was pronounced husband to my wife and my soul mate.
From Johnetta:
My husband and I met thirteen years ago at a revival at my fathers church. For him it was love at first sight. I, on the other hand, needed a bit more convincing! After many months of sweet smiles, secret hand holding and butterflies-in-the-stomach assaults, it only took one late night phone conversation to convince me that this was the man I needed to be with. We dated all through high school, and after nine wonderfully fulling years together, we were married. On October 14, 2011, I got to marry my best friend and three years in, I couldn’t be happier!
What is the best memory from your wedding day?
From Blue:
The best memory of our wedding day was our first song. Our wedding party did Michael Jackson’s Thriller. EPIC!
From Johnetta:
Our wedding was awesome! As much as I cherish our ceremony, my favorite part of our wedding was our first dance. My husband and I were swaying sweetly to the beautiful crooning of Frank Sinatra, then “Bam!” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” began to play as our wedding party joined us on the dance floor to perform the iconic “Thriller” dance. #Epic!
Describe the best date you’ve ever had.
From Blue:
The best date we ever had… You have to ask her they were all great to me!
From Johnetta:
As far as dates go, there have been so many! But one that always makes me smile happened on a Valentine’s day many years ago. Amazingly, I was ready early and we arrived to our reservation too soon. So, to pass the time, we headed down to Centennial Park to play in the kids area. Me in my red evening dress, and him in his suit and tie giggling and playing like two little kids in the twinkling night of my favorite city.
What makes your marriage work?
From Johnetta:
I love our marriage! What makes it work is the fact that I am truly married to my best friend, and the mutual love we share for God and our church. I don’t care how cheesy it sounds, but he just helps me be the best possible version of myself, and I love him for it.
What inspires you about your relationship?
From Blue:
What inspires me about our relationship is the compassion and dedication that we both have put in to make ourselves and each other better.
