Poemgrown: poetry, written by award-winning poet, Cin Salach. A beautiful collaboration with you, your life and your occasion…and for this occasion, Ashley and Brian’s emotionally rich and celebratory vow renewal ceremony at the first Chicago NotWedding this summer. The poem for Ashley and Brian was written by Cin, using the lines guests wrote in response to the “I/We vow to…” tags that they hung on the Guest Book Tree (see photo below, we love this idea). Every line was included!

Vows of Love
For Ashley + Brian

Watching you renew your love,
we witness and are moved to vow, too….

To remind you of all the love surrounding you
and to fight for each other daily.

To love each other forever
and respect each other every day.

To show Jesus to you (we are impressed with your commitment to God
and will be praying for you)
and to remember life is precious.

And when life doesn’t always go according to plan,
we vow to keep you laughing!

Inspired by the unwilting affection you radiate, we vow too,
to honor and cherish those who surround us and those we love.

To remember this moment, always.
To listen with an open mind, listen with an open heart.
To make sure they feel loved and beautiful, always.
To cherish and appreciate them.
To love them no matter what
(and to remember to put the toilet seat down!)
But in case we forget,
To always forgive.

Ashley and Brian, may you have many years
of household bliss sealed with a kiss.
May you always dine and wine together
and live life like it’s golden.
May you stay positive, be happy!
And always, always, forgive.
