Clay Austin, Charleston-based photographer and brand new Dad, has traveled to 32 of the 50 states and has set his tripod down for the sunset in almost all of them. He considers his work to be a modern approach to a traditional journalistic style; he is constantly trying to put a fresh spin on an evolving story. He loves to shoot outdoors and always looks for ways to incorporate his surroundings into each frame. He is a firm believer in love and we are firm believers in him. It was truly a pleasure to work with Clay this summer at the 2nd Charleston NotWedding.

Describe your personality in five words or less.
It’s complicated…
Who or what inspires you?
LOVE! I think I would be in the wrong business if it didn’t! I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of such a powerful day in a couple’s life and have the opportunity to capture the raw essence of how happy they are together.
What is the best part about your job?
The fact that I am able to provide each client of mine the ability to re-live one of the best days in their lives together, forever!
When you aren’t doing photography (shooting, editing, etc.) how do you spend your time?
Well I just became a father so right now my time is spent being INFATUATED with my new little family! Oh and taking, like, a weird amount of baby photos : )
What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
I would have to say meeting and collaborating with all the amazing vendors was definitely the highlight for me. It was truly inspiring to see how everyone came together and created something so unbelievable! Every facet of this industry is an art form, from hair and makeup to place cards, it was incredible to see how much talent there is out there!
