Our founder, Callie, took Oprah’s advice pretty seriously when she said, “Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.” We couldn’t dream of a staff with more incredibly talented, hardworking, kind, generous, motivated (and beautiful) women. We want to introduce you to to the team behind The NotWedding and we are starting with Jamie Bohlin. In addition to being a wife, mom and NotWedding account executive, Jamie is the small business owner (of the year!) of Cape Cod Celebrations.

Describe yourself in five words or less.
Fun-loving, relaxed and creative event planner. (Does “and” count as a word?!)

If you didn’t work in the wedding industry, what would you be doing?
Probably working in some sort of marketing or geeky internet technology job.

How does your company, Cape Cod Celebrations, benefit from your involvement with The NotWedding and vice versa?
So many ways! My business benefits from the amazing exposure and the overall experience from participating in the Cape Cod event last year. The event challenges us to think outside the box and come up with ideas that we wouldn’t typically do because we are always creating for our brides, not for ourselves. And it is such a breath of fresh air from the typical bridal shows – it is so much fun to work together and pull off a fake wedding! Working for The NotWedding has been nothing but amazing. I love connecting with other fabulous wedding vendors in the northeast and watching them work together to produce such beautiful events. Getting the chance to see their websites, hear their enthusiasm and watch them in action is always so inspiring to me and my business. I am also so thankful to get the chance to work with such an incredible team lead by a very intelligent lady!

How do you “do it all” and do it well? Wife, mama, business owner, employee, friend, etc.
Google calendar. For real. Without my calendar I would be completely lost. If it is not on my calendar, it does not exist! I also always make sure I have “me” time – whether that is reading a book, watching TV, going for a walk – every day. And I love being surrounded by my friends and family, so it is very important to me that I keep time open on my calendar to relax and have fun with them! I also love to travel so we try to get to a couple of different places each year. Balance is key. I love what I do, I love my clients, but I am fully aware when I need to slow down and change focus. Oh ya, and chocolate. Lots of chocolate.

Where do you want to be in five years?
In five years I want to have more planners on my staff with the ability to take on over 50+ weddings and events each season. I would really love for Cape Cod Celebrations to expand on our services and be able to work with anyone and everyone on Cape Cod no matter what type of event they are planning. We offer it all now, but focusing on those other markets on Cape will be great for us!
