What are the “little things” associated with a wedding and why are they so important?
I could go on for days about the “little things” associated with a wedding and why they’re so important, but the little things that I focus my attention on are those that make the planning experience smooth and stress-free, and those that make the guest experience unforgettable. For my clients, that means frequent and comprehensive communication and obsessive (ob-sess-ive!) attention to detail to ensure that everyone is on the same page and that those “oh my gosh we forgot to (fill in the blank here)” moments are avoided. For guests, the “little things” can be anything from providing heel savers for ladies wearing pumps at outdoor weddings to personalizing all of the wedding details so the guests feel like a part of the couple’s journey. At the end of the day, my clients are my top priority, and they want their guests to be comfortable and have a good time. When guests walk out of the wedding saying “there’s nothing they didn’t think of”, I’ve done my job. And that’s my goal every time!

Tell us about your most favorite event that you’ve ever worked on.
It’s tough to choose! I’d probably have to say that the first event I ever worked on is my favorite- a rehearsal dinner for dear friends of mine. I was working full-time in corporate America, pursuing a career in Project Management, and it was a great opportunity to get some experience on a small scale. I loved knowing that I was taking some of the items my friends were stressing about off of their plates (they were planning their own wedding, sans planner). More than that I loved the emails I got from the guests, most notably the groom’s mother, who told me how fabulous the dinner was, and that their family would cherish those memories forever. I loved every second of planning it and pulling it off, and it was just the kick in the pants I needed to to say, you know what? I’m going to go down a different path than I’ve been on so far in life. And I’m totally pumped about it.

What has been your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
I loved getting to chat with so many awesome brides and couples all in one spot- everyone was at different points in the planning process, but everyone was (of course!) really excited about their upcoming nups. There was so much great energy and excitement throughout the whole night- it was super fun to be a part of!
