Resourceful, untraditional, and unexpected, Ruie + Grace brings a whole new meaning to the word creative. When designing your wedding or event, the wonderful ladies behind Ruie + Grace pull ideas and inspiration from all around them – from a fabric swatch to a sunset! This out-of-the-box thinking paired with their hard-working yet cheerful nature yields the perfect recipe for success, not to mention an unforgettable event. It was such a pleasure working with the Ruie + Grace ladies at The Big Fake Wedding Baltimore, and we can’t wait to see what they create next!

“These ladies were some of the hardest working women I have come across, yet they were so calm and cheerful even through the very end of the evening. They had incredibly unique and creative vision, and the just added so much to the event in terms of both style and personality.”

Describe Ruie + Grace in five words or less.
Resourceful, repurposed, untraditional, unexpected, and hilarious (or so we think).

Who or what inspires you?
We are inspired by the couples that reach out to us for display work. Looking through their wedding board and listening to their vision helps us develop every detail and bring it to life. Nature, antiques, and the world we occupy also inspires us! We pull our ideas and inspiration from all around us: from a fabric swatch to a sunset.

Describe a highlight or pivotal moment in your career.
The most pivotal moment was actually the start. When you’re working full time and living full time lives, the dream of starting your own business seems impossible. Within months of the two of us meeting, we recognized that we both had similar goals and that all of the prior dreaming seemed realistic – and that was exciting. Now we’ve brought on a third partner, Ashley, who is the perfect addition to the R+G team, and just like that we faced another pivotal moment. Finding inspiring people to work with has consistently been the life and heart of Ruie + Grace.

What advice would you give to aspiring small business owners?
Don’t be too stuck on what your business is going to look or be like at any given time. We’ve learned so much from our success, but even more from our failures. Be honest with yourself when evaluating your business and make the necessary changes. We jokingly call this “rolling into failure.” Oh, and when in doubt, pack a glue gun.

What is your favorite part of The Big Fake Wedding experience?
Meeting and working with all of the different vendors. We have been blown away by the sense of community in the wedding business and are always pumped to foster new relationships!
