Tell us a little bit about the story of Nathalie Kraynina Bride.
My name is Nathalie Kraynina and I have a BESPOKE bridal service where I custom design and make one-of-a-kind bridal attire. My collection caters to clients who desire a wedding gown with couture-like quality and innovative design, but with the ease and price of a ready-to-wear wedding dress. My focus is on exceptional fit and modern design, complimented by embellished and embroidered details that offer brides a glamorous and special wedding day look.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is the fact that I get to create pieces that women wear on their most special day. I love the fact that my creations are inspired by each individual woman and her story. It is a great responsibility for me but it is also a great honor! When we have the final fitting and the bride sees herself in the mirror and her eyes fill up with tears, or she calls me from her wedding to tell me how wonderful and beatific she feels, or when I receive a two-page thank you note from her mother describing her daughter coming down the aisle in the dress I made – those are the moments that make me so happy and make it all worth it for me! There is nothing more rewarding than those moments.
What advice would you give to aspiring small business owners?
Having a small business is probably the hardest thing you will ever do… but I always say that it is also the best as well. I think you have to work the hardest than you ever have and the accomplishments are the most rewarding. My advice is to not give up. In business the hard, low moments are the moments that separate the successful people from the ones who fail. Everyone can be a great entrepreneur when there are orders coming in and everything is going great. But in every business venture a tough time comes and that’s when you have to stay composed and work through it. That’s when you start feeling like a failure and start doubting yourself and everything you have been doing. If you can get through the bottom low points and not lose your mind you will succeed.
Describe a typical day in your life.
On a normal week my typical day starts at my studio in South Williamsburg where a make my creations and see clients. I usually go in and take care of emails and other business-related tasks in the morning. I spend the afternoons working on patterns or making gowns. I typically see clients between the hours of 5-7 pm or on the weekends. During Fashion Week or when there is a big project due, like before a photoshoot, there is no typical day! I might be in the studio all night or running around the city all day.
What is your favorite part of The Big Fake Wedding experience?
My favorite part is the fact that it does turn into a party at some point. Engaged couples are usually so stressed out planning their wedding and going to events or doing other wedding-related things– it’s almost like a second job for them. So to see everyone kick up their heels and enjoy the night dancing, drinking and having fun is really great for me.
