“I am inspired everyday by the people in this industry. The ones who have started their businesses before me and those right along side of me. Their talent and creativity inspires me to step out of my comfort zone and follow my heart as I layer the pieces together to create something beautiful.” If there’s one thing we love more than small businesses, it’s when we see them supporting one another. Living life with a smile on her face, Lisa of The Sweet Trend certainly lives up to her business name. At the third Athens NotWedding, we watched in awe as she expertly set up a dessert bar that we thought only existed in our dreams. Working with Lisa was truly a pleasure, and we can’t wait to see what she cooks up next.
“Lisa is THE sweetest, pun intended! She will work with you to have the exact sweetness that you need at your wedding!”
The Athens NotWedding Team
What is the “sweetest” part of your job?
The sweetest part of my job is sharing the special occasions of my clients. Having the opportunity to design and create a table that reflects their vision of a perfect event.
Describe a highlight or pivotal moment in your career.
My favorite quote, that I found as I started this business is and snapped a picture of, which I think of often, “Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainty” – Erich Fromm.
Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired everyday by the people in this industry. The ones who have started their businesses before me and those right along side of me. Their talent and creativity inspires me to step out of my comfort zone and follow my heart as I layer the pieces together to create something beautiful.
What advice would you give to aspiring small business owners?
Believe in what you want to do. Trust yourself but also listen to others, you can grow much from their wisdom too. Working towards success, the hours can be very long, but each time I finalize an event and put the last detail in place, I feel delighted with what I have accomplished. It is worth every minute you put into the company that you call your own.
What is your favorite part of The NotWedding experience?
It was such an awesome time! I would have to say the PEOPLE, on all levels! I met wonderful vendors in this industry. People I have done business with since, asked advice of, spent time with. Brides, friends and their families who came by my table and have contacted me, from local and neighboring states. Not all wanting tables, but something I could help them with. I felt honored by that trust they put into my thoughts and knowing I could help put that piece together for them. They were all such a pleasure to meet. Last, I cannot say enough about the people from The NotWedding! Their energy and positive encouragement set me, and all the vendors up for a successful event.
